Season Schedule 3/25-3/29

MARCH PRACTICE & MEET SCHEDULE:

Week of March 25:

*Please note that this schedule may change since we anticipate our meet from 3/22 to be rescheduled - date TBD.

Monday March 25 

3:30-4:30

High School  Track

6th Grade Only: Report to the high school track stadium for practice.  

 

No practice for grade 7 and 8.

Tuesday March 26

3:00-3:45**

Middle School Gym

**Throwers may stay longer after 3:45

7th/8th Grade Only: Report to the middle school for practice.  

THROWS PRACTICE: The throwers (shot put/discus) may stay later: Throws practice will begin at 3:45 for no later than 4:15, but may end earlier. 

No practice for grade 6.

Wednesday March 27

High School Track

7th & 8th Grade Only: Report to the HS track for practice.  

No practice for grade 6.

Thursday March 28

High School Track

6th Grade Only: Report to the high school track stadium for practice.  

No practice for grades 7 and 8, except throwers and high jumpers. Throws practice and high jump practice will begin at 4:00 for 7th/8th graders.

6-7-8: All team members are encouraged to participate today! All team members must report to the track at 3:30 to sign in and meet the coaches. Team members and spectators may enter through the Sylvan Lake steps. Since the shirt orders are not in yet, students should wear their black or gray track/xc shirts from past seasons, or any other Haddonfield apparel. The meet will start at 4:00.  The order of events and estimated times are listed below.

Season Schedule 3/13-3/22

Please review the information in the "Team Information" news post in addition to the notes below regarding the HMS Track and Field Team's practice and meet schedule:

  • Please read the schedule closely to note grade and/or event specific days.  With a team of close to 200 athletes, we are utilizing grade/event specific practices and high school/middle school locations to best meet the needs of our athletes. You will see that the beginning of the season will begin with grade-specific practices.

  • All practices listed as at "Middle School" will meet at 3:00 in the middle school gym. All practices listed as at "High School Track" will meet at 3:30 on the high school track. You can enter the track via the steps on Sylvan Lake Avenue.

  • Home meets will begin at 4:00 at the HMHS. Track and team members will be asked to arrive by 3:30. For away meets, participants will be limited to one bus. Team members will qualify for participation. 

  • Practice schedules and any additional information regarding meets and practices will be announced prior to the week via this site and twitter. Please also sign up for the Remind Account by texting "@hmstrackxc" to the number 81010.

Team Uniform/Gear Sale - To Be Updated

This year we will be offering our team uniforms for purchase through an online store!  

By popular demand, the store will also be offering long sleeve tops and personalized bags!

The store will be open from 2/26-3/17 ONLY. The HMS coaches will distribute orders when they arrive in April. All orders arrive from the company to the middle school pre-packaged for the student.

The online store will offer:

*HMS Team Uniform: short sleeve top (adult and youth sizing)

*Optional: long sleeve top (adult and youth sizing), long sleeve half zip (adult, women, and youth sizing), and team bag (with embroidered personalization)

A team meeting will be held on Thursday 2/28 immediately after school in the gym to pass out flyers and more information about uniforms. The online store offers convenient ordering and distribution of orders as well as more availability of sizing for our team members.  Until shirt orders arrive, team members will be asked to wear a black t-shirt or Haddonfield gear as a competition top.

About the Season

Interest Meeting Date- Thursday February 28th @ 2:50 in the Middle School Gym**If a student misses the coaches' interest meeting, they may still join the team at any time throughout the season.  Follow the links and directions below to ensure proper sign-up.

Program Philosophy: The middle school track level program includes: sprints, distance events, long jump, high jump, shot put, and discus. The program exposes the athletes to the various events and training principles. The team members will be guided to find events that match their interests and potential. They will be challenged to steadily progress in their training and improve in their performances. The students should find their experience successful and fun!  With a team of close to 200 athletes, we will be utilizing grade/event specific practices to best meet the needs of our athletes.

(Note: Impact Concussion Testing is NOT required for middle schoolers.)

Permission and Medical Packet is due to the nurse's office before practicing with the team.  Newcomers are always welcome to join the team anytime during the season, but understand that they will be a wait time as the paperwork processes through both the school nurse's office and the school doctor.

Practice Schedule: Season practices will include a combination of practices at the middle school (3:00-3:45) or high school (3:30-4:30).  Please check back on this site for practice and meet schedules and follow us on twitter, where the schedule will be posted each week. The schedule will be posted weekly on the website as well as posted on twitter. Students should wear supportive running shoes to prevent injuries.  Bring extra sweats to keep warm in the early part of the season. Bring a labeled or identifiable water bottle. If you are riding your bike to track practice or meets at the high school, lock up bicycles and leave valuables at home.

Meet Information: The team will compete in Colonial Conference dual meets as well as additional championship meets. The season meets are listed on the "schedule" tab. All team members are invited to participate in our three home meets.  Team members will qualify to participate in away meets and championship meets.

Team T-Shirts: The online store will be available for a limited window during March.  More information is posted in the "Team Uniform/Gear" post.  

Practice/Meet Cancelations: Cancelations or changes to the schedule (such as cancelation due to rain) will be announced to the students before the end of the school day and posted on the team website. They will also be tweeted out on our Twitter account: @HMSTrackXC  and sent in a Remind alert (information on signing up for Remind text messages, above).
