Covid Guidelines

  • The coaching staff will emphasize that athletes must adhere to the NJSIAA COVID-19 Season 2, 2A & 3 Guidelines.
  • Athletes must complete the daily Covid questionnaire by 12:30pm on weekdays and 7:00am on weekends to be eligible to participate in that day's practice. There will be no exceptions. Athletes are encouraged to set alarms or reminders to complete this on time each day.
  • Athletes who are sick or experiencing Covid-related symptoms will be excused from practice.
  • Masks must be worn at all times during practice and meets, except during physical activity.
  • Social distancing must be maintained as much as possible.
  • Athletes will be divided into pods and must stay within their groups.
  • Athletes may not share water bottles.

Practice Schedule

  • First day of practice will be February 1
  • Weekday practices will be 3:15pm – 5:00pm
  • Saturday practices will be in the morning – times will vary; generally 9:00am or 10:00am
  • Practice will be held over winter break (schedule will be published on team website) - not applicable this season

Attendance Policy

  • Athletes are expected to attend all practices
  • Early departure, late arrival, or missed practices should be discussed with Coach Seaman well in advance; this must be followed up with an e-mail from a parent to Coach Seaman (confirmation from a parent is required because it ensures the coaching staff that a parent is aware that the athlete is not present at the practice or a meet.
  • Communicated missed practices may or may not be excused; this will be at the discretion of the coaches.
  • The first missed practice may result in a conversation with the athlete; a second missed practice may result in contact with a parent/guardian.
  • Excessive missed practices may lead to sitting out of a meet or dismissal from the team
  • When injured, you must communicate daily with Coach Seaman and the athletic trainer regarding your workload and progress. Attendance at practice is still expected.

Meet Schedule

  • The meet schedule is on the front page of the website.
  • At sectional and state competitions, all athletes are expected to remain until the end of the meet.
  • Practice may or may not be held for athletes that are not scheduled to complete in an away meet. When these practices are held, it will be at HMHS, and all athletes not competing will be expected to attend.
  • Athletes should communicate all potential conflicts with Coach Seaman (followed up by an e-mail from a parent) well in advance of the meet, so that lineups can be appropriately adjusted – however, conflicts are not necessarily excused. Repeated absence from competition may result in dismissal from the team.

Varsity Letters

  • Place in top 6 in a championship meet - not applicable this season
  • Special consideration will be given to athletes who attend an exceptionally high number of practices and demonstrate outstanding performance

Meet Lineups

  • Coaches will determine the lineup for each meet.
  • Lineups will be made to maximize the teams’ chance of winning or performing well in the meet or event.
  • Lineups may be made in order to secure seed times for meets with qualification standards.
  • Relay decisions will be made based on: performance / chemistry / coaches’ discretion

Conduct Standards

  • Athletes are expected to treat teammates and competitors with respect at all times.
  • Athletes are welcome to discuss their goals with the coaches, but it is also expected that they are supportive of team decisions in term of training and meet lineups.
  • Everyone contributes to the team environment, so it is expected that the focus is on daily presence at practice, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work hard each day.

Parents Thank You!

  • The coaches of HMHS Track and Field very much appreciate the support given to our girls by their families and the community.  We appreciate the opportunity to coach your daughters and provide for them an atmosphere in which they can have fun, challenge themselves, and become better at their craft.
  • We appreciate the trust you have in us as coaches. It’s the patience you show that allows us to handle any issues with coaching decisions and conflicts with our athletes.  Please encourage your daughters to come to us first with any problems or competition discussions, to embrace their teammates after races, and to be role models and supportive teammates ON and OFF the field.

Congratulations!

You’re making the commitment to be a member of a very competitive program with an awesome tradition of success.

Do your best to make yourself and this team better EVERY DAY!

And most importantly:  HAVE FUN!!!!!!
