Coaches
Biography:

Coach Holman played tennis at Haddonfield Memorial High School and Princeton University before becoming Haddonfield’s head coach.  Through 2023, his girls’ teams have won 1,240 matches, 45 Colonial Conference championships, 42 sectional titles, 19 state championships, and 3 New Jersey Tournament of Champions titles.  Through 2024, Coach Holman’s boys’ teams have won 1,222 matches, 45 Colonial Conference championships, 36 sectional titles, and 11 state championships.   

 

During his career, Coach Holman has won 26 Coach of the Year awards from various organizations, including the National Federation of State High School Associations and the National High School Coaches Association.  He has also been named the MaxPreps Greatest High School Coach of All-Time in Girls Tennis and inducted into the South Jersey Tennis Hall of Fame, New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Haddonfield Memorial High School Athletic Hall of Fame, Haddon Field Club Hall of Fame, Camden County Athletic Hall of Fame, Middle States Hall of Fame, New Jersey High School Hall of Fame, and National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  Moreover, Coach Holman has received the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Sports Award of Honor, the Haddonfield Memorial High School Alumni Society Lifetime Achievement Award, the United States Tennis Association Starfish No-Cut Award (for running an exemplary no-cut program), and the USTA Middle States Presidential Service Award.

 

In addition, Coach Holman founded and serves as president of the South Jersey Tennis Coaches Association.  As the president of this association, he runs the Camden County Tennis Championships and South Jersey Interscholastic Championships, coordinates the selection of all-star teams, organizes banquets at which all-stars and recipients of other awards are recognized, and raises funds that enable the association to present scholarships to senior tennis players each year.  Coach Holman also serves as the organizer and director of the Colonial Conference tournament and the Haddonfield Invitational, and as a member of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association seeding committee for the state tennis tournaments.

 

Along with coaching the high school’s tennis teams, Coach Holman has worked as a high school teacher, middle school counselor, and high school counselor for the Haddonfield School District.   In 2017 he was named the Camden County School Counselors Association Counselor of the Year.  He creates the school’s master schedule and represents the Counseling Department as a member of the selection committee for the Foundation for Educational Opportunity scholarship program.  Typically, this program annually awards $10,000 scholarships to 30 Haddonfield Memorial High School seniors.  Coach Holman also operates the clock for varsity basketball games and wrestling matches.
